R50 Mirror

$30.00
Description

We believe in mirrors like we believe in bells. Ride with one for a week and you'll never again want to do without.

Our R-series is available in two mirror sizes to fit drop bar bikes, a 35mm and a 50mm diameter. They both provide a very similar view but the smaller mirror is more challenging to use, a tradeoff for the sake of minimal form. We consider the R35 our "pro" (vanity) mirror and the R50 our everyday touring model.

Designed to complement a modern drop bar bicycle. Not compatible with extreme bar geometries or positions. Some Enve bars and others without standard bar plugs also may not work. Email photos of your setup if you have any questions.

Why ride with a mirror?

Mirrors enable a safer experience by providing a more comprehensive view of other road users. This extra awareness also extends social cohesion on group rides and can be leveraged for strategic advantage in competition. Any of these benefits alone might make a mirror worth the money. Together they will transform your riding experience.

Nice little mirror!

I went to install this little gem and realized that I needed to go back to the website and find some instructions. Once found and viewed, the install was simple and very secure. Mirror doesn't move while riding and stays in adjustment. Nice quality like all of their other products.

Quality and functionality

I’m really enjoying the quality and functionality of the R50. I also use a bike radar that I wouldn’t want to be without, but a mirror has the advantages of simplicity, never needing re-charging and never giving a ‘false negative’ like the radar does when a car behind slows down to the same speed as me. Using a mirror on a bike has become as normal as using a mirror when driving my car.

Nice

After using a wire frame, glasses mount, mirror for 10 +/- years it was a very easy transition to the R35. Now less geek and more stealth! Works great, especially teamed with a Varia.

game changer

From my first ride it's been a game changer. Makes me feel much more aware of others on the road, field of vision is wide and clear, and it's unobtrusive so it's not distracting. Can't recommend this enough

compare to Cateye

I already had 45mm cateye similar bar end mirror on my road bike. bought this 50mm for my gravel bike.
I have already noted that the slightly larger visual field seems more clear.
adjustability is about the same and slightly more secure than the cateye.
I do think the 30 would be to small.
Definitely a great value for price.
Would recommend.

Works as advertised

I like the mirror but had my first one break off when I hit it with my knee. Being about 80% deaf I can’t hear traffic approaching from the rear so it’s a necessary accessory for me. I don’t rely on it when I’m on a road where traffic is going 50mph or greater because traffic is closing too fast. I try to avoid these roads but can’t always do that.

Stable, well made, but too small for me

It's a nice bright mirror, and its installation and adjustment was easy, and the mirror is very stable while riding. However, it really is too small, and it does not extend beyond its diameter from the end of the handlebar. On a deep drop bar, that places it pretty far away, plus your hands and arms can obscure seeing it at all in some hand positions. My wife loves hers, but I'm not going to continue to use mine.

Awesome!

Got this for my "kid towing" bike so I can see the shenanigans behind me but keeping my bike sleek! I might get the smaller one for my road bike!

Very stable mirror

I wasn’t sure if I would like this mirror because it is much smaller than the mirror I have been using for over 20 years. What interested me was the attachment design which used sliding wedges instead of compressed rubber discs which can be very hard to remove from inside a handlebar after the deform. The attachment design works great and the design also allows the mirror to break loose if hit without damage to it as long as you don’t tighten the set screw too tight. The smaller mirror is a slight convex so I have a wide view. Visibility is actually better with it than my old bigger mirror. Since it is smaller it is harder to hit. It is a great mirror that was designed very thoughfully.
